Day 8

category: Thoughts tags:

I took this photo on an engagement shoot a couple days ago that Ryan and I did. At the time, I just thought it was a cool looking bench, but today it brings nice way for me to remember the beauty of simply sitting and talking. Particularly, I’m referring to a conversation I had with my wife tonight. We stopped all distractions – turned off netflix, closed the computer screen, etc. – and had some simple but great conversation about our passions and how we can work together to have a less messy home. We continue to discover that we lack discipline on very simple things sometimes… Especially me.

We can’t help but notice how we need encouragement – from each other, friends, family – to keep on with the several disciplines we want to work on. However, it’s so easy for us to be distracted. Even doing this blog every day for a month has gotten away from me a couple times already, but instead of trying to catch up on days, I’ve decided that if I miss a post, I just need to post the next day and not try to make up for missing one – that way, I’m not deterred from posting again! Anyways, that’s all for tonight folks. Time for bed!

My wife and I are partnering with another couple (Emily and Austin of Pines Photography) and are going to be traveling to several countries throughout Europe starting in April 2013 to film a full-length documentary. In each country, we will interview locals who minister there to bring awareness to the needs, struggles, successes in those communities and encourage the Church to respond.

Please take a moment to check out the project website at OperationEurope.net. Also, visit our funding page HERE to learn how to get a hold of the finished project and/or to support us.

MY

name is Mike Thezier (pronounced: tee-zee-ey). I am a husband, photographer, and designer who thoroughly enjoys communicating through media.

Photography became a passion of mine at the end of my time earning my degree in music. I love capturing people in honest moments - truely copturing the person for who they are and getting a glimpse into their lives.

I co-own a wedding photography company called Equals D Photography with a another fellow photographer and friend. Ryan and I have a blast joining forces for weddings, engagements, non-profit events, and other projects. Take a moment to check out our work here.

Beyond photography, my heart is very much into non-profit work.

I've had the priviledge, along with my wife (Janna Thezier), to work with a non-profit in India and Nepal for a few years coming along side locals in their efforts to better the lives of the people in their communities. I find so much joy in using photography and design to further such causes.

My wife and I got married on April 23, 2011 in Hemet, California and we are convinced that the "Honeymoon stage" does not have to end.

I am a person who is excited about life. I am a fan of camping, hiking, making fires with a magnesium strip (Thank you SurvivorMan and Bear Grylls), movies, and conversations over coffee among other things.

My love for the visual arts is continually growing and I find great joy in creating awareness and doing something about it. It is a beautiful thing that the camera can sometimes break down barriers and be a means of connection with people regardless of language or culture.
